A busy week ahead…

In the world of all things broker, it’s an exciting one this week! With the broker awards Wednesday (29/09/21), and the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) expo on Thursday (30/09/21) its absolute madness (in a good way though of course!).

The NACFB for those who are unfamiliar, was established in 1992, with the mission of supporting brokers in sourcing funding solutions for UK SMEs. This is done by building strong connections with lenders within various sectors, helping to generate new business leads, aiding commercial growth, providing a wide range of business support services and in many additional ways that can be read about on the website here. The NACFB is the largest independent trade body for commercial finance brokers with the association comprising of over 2000 commercial finance brokers covering the whole of the UK.

To summarise, Wednesday’s Commercial Broker Awards is situated in Birmingham in Edgbaston Cricket Ground and begins at 12:30pm. The awards ceremony recognises excellence in the intermediary community, as well as members of the NACFB team, there are 11 industry experts who make up the judging panel. All of these are chosen for their expertise and understanding of the sector. The winners are announced on Wednesday afternoon, a day before the Commercial Finance Expo. Goodman Corporate Finance has been shortlisted in the category of Factoring & Invoice Discounting Broker of the Year!

There has not been an event held now since 2019 for the NACFB Expo, so it is very fair to say there a buzz of excitement in the air for this week’s event! It is a great chance at returning to a sense of normality in the finance world after the brutality of the pandemic has begun to hopefully die down.

Here is the agenda for Thursday’s event:

It’s easy to see just how busy the week is for our Managing Director and NACFB Chair, Paul Goodman. He’s kindly provided a day-by-day run down of his hectic week this week, starting with Tuesday. We are all very intrigued to find out just what a day in the life of the NACFB chair is like in this busy time!

When asked about his Tuesday plans for this week, Paul highlighted how in preparation for Wednesday’s awards event, he has been writing and rehearsing his speeches, ensuring that the NACFB team have everything they need to make the events a huge success, and getting on with his busy day to day routine.

Quotes:

To go deeper into what the day held on Tuesday for NACFB Chair, I approached him for a quote, he commented how “it’s an early 5:30am start to get up with son Jack, help him get dressed and give him breakfast. Before walking Jack to nursery at 7:30am, I’ll have read over the NACFB morning briefing. Around 8:30am I’ll be in the NACFB red team meeting. Following this, overnight emails will all be caught up with. Then at 11:00am various NACFB calls will be made to ensure the event planning is running smoothly. Next, it’s time for a quick shower and to get all dressed up in a black suit and tie for the 13:30pm driver to arrive who will take me to the James Bond Premiere at the Royal Albert Hall (courtesy of my amazing wife, Roxanne!). Then, after the thrill of the premiere comes to an end, I’ll be heading home around 2:30am to catch a few Z’s before driving down to the much-anticipated broker awards in Birmingham!”. More information will be released on the broker awards soon.

The team at Goodman are all eager to hear about Paul’s experience at the James Bond Premiere!
