A family business, in the fullest sense
Goodman Corporate Finance is run by Paul and Roxanne Goodman, husband and wife, who built the firm together over more than twenty years. It is a genuine family business, not in name but in the way it works. Every client conversation, every credit decision, and every introducer relationship is owned personally by one or both of them.
Most firms of this age have grown layers of staff and moved their senior people away from the day-to-day. Goodman has chosen the opposite. Fewer clients, each with direct access to the people whose name is on the door. It is a deliberate choice about the kind of firm worth building, and it is the single thing that most sets us apart.
Why I built this firm
I have spent my whole working life in and around SME businesses. Ten years in accountancy practice, working closely with owners every day. Six years running a manufacturing business of my own, where I learned first hand what it means to need the right finance and struggle to find it. And more than twenty years since in commercial finance, arranging over three billion pounds for businesses across every product and sector. I chaired the NACFB, the trade body for commercial finance brokers, from 2015 to 2024.
I built Goodman Corporate Finance because I had seen too many good businesses let down by a market that puts its own interests first. I have spent much of the last few years refinancing businesses out of exactly that: expensive, short-term debt that suited the broker and damaged the business that took it on. That is the problem this firm exists to fix.
Roxanne Goodman
Roxanne is a director of Goodman Corporate Finance and Paul's partner in building it, at home and in the business. She oversees compliance across the firm and its sister brands, the discipline that lets a small firm hold to a standard larger ones struggle to match.
She is also the founder of Female Founder Finance, built to make the funding market work better for women building and running businesses.
